- I moved to Port Townsend in 1971 when it was a very lonely, run-down, redneck place.I have come and gone a lot since then for college, jobs, travel etc but this place keeps calling me back. Many of my old friends are here and we have put down roots.
Even though I work in Seattle 10 days a month, I would never consider living in the rat race. Jefferson County has everything I need for happiness such as natural beauty and all the activities that allow me to be out in it.
I observed Jefferson County in the 70's and 80's when youthful energy was all around. It seemed like a miraculous renewal that changed the culture of the area and infused it with art, music and celebration. Now I look around and wonder who all these old people are. I love the idea of this new web site and hope that it can help attract young people back to the area.
