Wanna Start Something

Anyone else know about it? The way I heard it was during the Japanese concentration camps (PT wasn't always so PC) a old Japanese woman (I like to add in the "old" makes it more believable) put a curse on PT that it would never be successful. I've also heard that the curse included a revolving 7 or 10 (the story changes depending on who tells it) years good luck/bad cycle forever. 7/10 years of abundance, 7/10 years poverty so to speak. I've also heard it was a Native American who put the curse on the area in a few versions.

I've heard this story my whole life. Some old-timers live by it. My dad has seen the pattern in his real estate job for the last 25 years (ever notice how sometimes every thing is for sale then nothing is and the values skyrocket?) PT was supposed to be "the Seattle" and Seattle wasn't really supposed to be much of anything. Ever notice the train tracks that lead to nowhere? How they just stop- and the train never came? When I was little my dad was on the Historic Preservation Committee and they opened up for the first time in many years the upstairs of the Mt. Baker Block building (I think thats the one) and you could literally see how the workers had just dropped their tools and walked out when they found out the train wasn't coming. All those downtown buildings were/are unfinished. They were supposed to have several more floors added. Crazy.

Anyhow- sometimes when I'm hating on PT I am reminded of the curse... when things that are awesome (like Vigilance or the BR's struggles, businesses closing, etc.) die out of the blue it's that damn curse.

What do you think? What stories have you heard? What evidence have you seen?
